How a Dollar General Employee Went Viral on TikTok
“The dollar store was created to sell items for very little money,” said the worker, an employee named John. “I was actually surprised to see how many things they sell for under $5.”
John, who is in his early 30’s and lives in Michigan, says he’s been working in the grocery market for nearly two years. He didn’t plan on going viral on TikTok, but rather just sharing his view on how the dollar store is making so much profit.
“I believe that you can only buy items that are in extremely low prices on the dollar store,” he said.
He says his views on the dollar store are not the only views he enjoys sharing on social media, but is what’s most likely to make him go viral.
“I think it’s nice to have people talking about something, and that you’re not just the odd person out. You can get your voice heard,” he said.
The dollar store employee says he is currently working at one of the dollar stores in Michigan, but hopes to open his own store one day.
According to the company, the dollar store is the largest retailer in the United States.
At least, that’s what they tell themselves. They don’t seem to tell their employees very much about the high profits on their dollar stores.
John says it’s because the company has become one of the wealthiest businesses in the United States.
In fact, “$14,000 a year” is what he earned in one month working for a Dollar General store.
For comparison, a middle class worker with a 10-hour work-week is making about $1,000 a month. That’s a lot for someone who works at a dollar store.
And not only does he make $12 an hour at the dollar store, he says the store offers good benefits and health insurance.
He says they offered him about 2,500 dollars in severance so he could focus on his family, so he wouldn’t have to take a “bump” from a dollar store.
And he says they give their employees a
